Second one not as good as the first.

This is the second D10VH drill I have owned. My first one lasted three hard years before finally giving up and it was worked hard. I recently replaced it with the same model hoping for the same quality and durability as the first one. My first use and impression of the new one was disappointing. The new drill makes a hard growling noise which is obviously coming from the drive gears and continues the noise as the drill stops. So far it has not affected the actual performance of this drill but it is annoying because I know the drill is not going to last any time. If, no, when this one dies I will go with a different brand rather than go through the hassle of trying to get it fixed with the warranty. I need a tool that will last like my old one and not have to be bothered with sending it back for repairs. I am sorry but I can no longer recommend this model drill. I do miss my old green work horse.

I have had this drill for several years and as I usualy use cordless drills I have only used this drill 5 or six times. I was using it with a hole saw attachment and cutting thru aluan door when the gripping teeth on the chuckcrumbled – it no lnger will hod a bit straight. I don’t no if this is an isolated
occurence but I finished the job with my Ryobi cordless drill that I have had for 8 years and is my work horse dril. I would like to know if the chuck can be replace and at what cost

I’m pleased with the features, power and value of the drill but have had a problem with the keyless chuck. Having only used it once I had a difficult time getting the drill bit to center in the chuck. It appears to made of plastic and a small part seems to have broken off. I plan to contact Hitachi about the problem.

Great for home projects.

I have had this drill about a month and have used it to complete several projects around my new home. The keyless chuck holds bits securely, the electrical cord (my preference over battery) is long enough for good mobility, variable speed and solid motor w/ good torque all make this an excellent piece of equipment.

This product performs with excellence!

I chose this product because it fit my needs perfectly. The combination of a 3/8″ chuck capacity, a powerful, variable speed motor, and compact size made the choice easy.
Add to that the fact that experience with Hitachi-Seiki CNC machine tools provided me brand familiarity.
This is an excellent small power tool!
