I am now on my second DCD991 hammerdrill/driver. I just purchas the bare tool because I have multiple 9ah batteries in my toolkit. This drill is a workhorse. I use it daily. Mostly for drilling holes through steel, concrete/brick and in a very oily, dirty environment. This drill holds up to all the obstacles thrown at it. I have never had a problem. I recommend the flexvolt 9ah batteries, the lanyard and belt clip.

Very Durable
Rating: 5
I have had almost every name brand high end drill out there over the years and this one has been the best hands down. The power is untouchable by any other I've used. It's been extremely durable and with the 5ah XR battery it last all day and can drive large deck and framing screws without even a hint slowing down. Best drill I have ever owned. Definitely recommend DeWalt 20v XR drills. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

No Nonsense Brushless American Drill
Rating: 5
I scored this drill new for a song and it's held up great. Don't waste your money on the hammer version - if you actually need to punch a hole in concrete SDS+ is the way to go. This drill also has a very nice light (same feature I later found on my Mac Tools (DeWalt) 20v 1/2 High Torque Impact) except here you get different duration of spotlight, as opposed to torque settings. Also, the lower "2nd" speed is nice, I wish my DCD777 had a range between 1st and 2nd for times when you're drilling smaller holes in softer metals and can pick up the pace a bit. 10/10 overall, very pleased. Hopefully I can get quite a few more years out of it.

Great drill for home and work
Rating: 5
I bought this drill about 5 years ago. It still runs today like it did when I pulled it out of the box. I went with Dewalt because my uncle bought a combo set of Dewalt drill, impact, circular saw, and reciprocating saw 15 plus years ago and still uses them today. Even after all the heavy use and abuse they have endured it amazes me that they still perform. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Good machine worth every penny
Rating: 5
I've had my drill for a while now maybe going on three yrs I've lost track. It is rugged easy to use and powerful. Im not a big fan of the electronic clutch but it does its job. I prefer the old still clutch. Im sure this clutch is designed so you don't burn out the motor but it can be annoying when driving larger lag bolts. All I hope is that dewalt stops redesigning their batteries, I'm getting tired of buying adapters just to use my older tools. I do recommend this drill it's built to last I've dropped mine from roof tops and it has never failed not even a crack and barely even scratched it; not recommended but nice to know it will hold up.

Great Tool!

Have you ever been in a situation where you need to both drill a pilot hole and the drive a screw? I know I have more times than I can count. You had two choices - well - three actually. 1st, you could drill the pilot hole, change bits to drive the screw then repeat for as many times as necessary. 2nd choice - carry two drills, one to make the pilot hole and the second to drive in the screw. Better than choice one, but more expensive and if you are working outside or on a ladder ….well... This left choice 3. Do not drill the pilot hole and just drive in the screw. Works o.k. EXCEPT - more than once broke the screw head off: stripped the head or split the wood. Then along came this new switchdriver. Picking it up my first impression of it was how balanced it felt. With the battery in place it is very comfortable to handle. I was wondering what the guard in front of the trigger was for. As soon as I put the bits in I saw that it is there to protect your hand from the bit that is turned down. (See picture- WORX or mine). In using the Switchdriver I found when drilling in wood it is much better to drill in high speed. In metal, of course, you want to drill at a lower speed to prevent burning the bit. I note that WORX recommends NOT drilling in the lower gear for long periods of time as this may cause overheating. I did some expermenting with what the driver could do. So, with an old tough piece of 2X4 I drilled pilot holes and then put in some 2” screws. Not even an effort. I then tried putting in the screws WITHOUT drilling the pilot holes. Again, did it with no problem but I know this had to pull on the battery. Then, I switched over to trying this out with 4” #12 hex head screws. Again, with the pilot holes drilled they zipped in. Driving the screws without the pilot hole in high gear, I was able to drive them in 3 inches when the driver stopped. Keep in mind, I am still using the same battery, so the power is down a little. I then put the drill into low gear and easily drove the screws all the way in. The tool certainly has plenty of torque for everything I threw at it. I find that using the Switchdriver takes a little getting used to. I am so accustomed to changing out bits that I keep forgetting I only need to rotate the chuck, but I am catching on. I am enclosing a couple of pictures that show how I have addressed a couple of issues relating to the 1/4" bits. The Switchdriver is designed for quick changing bits which are readily available. Many of us, however, still have some of the older 1/4" and round bits. You just CANNOT use the short bits without the use of a magnetic holder. The round ones will only work if you have a chuck of the type that I show. I do not how long you can expect the battery to last on one charge, but there are two batteries so between them you should be able to go a fairly long time - plus - if you happen to have other WORX 20 volt products you can just keep going. Overall, I find this tool to be a great addition to my collection. I think you will like it as much as I do. I recommend this product.

A well engineered & produced product
Rating: 5
I bought the Worx Switchdriver about a month ago. The 2 features I like the most is the easy changing of drills or drivers and the ability to drill a pilot hole & then drive the screw by just rotating the head. I also appreciate the fact that I own 2 other products and the batteries are interchangeable. With 5 batteries I can work all day without running out of power. Love it.

Switchdriver Excellent tool
Rating: 5
I bought the switchover and have used it. It is lightweight with a comfortable hand grip and it's lightweight. I have another double headed drill. It is very heavy and three times the size of the switchover. You cannot do wrong by adding this tool to your work tools. Being able to change from drill to screwdriver is so easy and quickly.

Best Drill I've ever owned!
Rating: 5
I saw the add for this drill and thought I'd take a chance and get one. I'm very glad I did! I started a basement remodel and put up new drywall and there is no other drill I would have wanted to use than the Switchdriver! It made things go so much faster! I honestly can't believe this wasn't invented 20 years ago! The battery holds a very nice long charge and the drill is not under powered. Guys I work with want one now and my next door neighbor just borrowed it for 2 days and returned it and said it was great! Thank you Switchdriver for making an incredible, unique drill!

Great product
Rating: 5
I bought this almost a month ago and I just love it. I am not a big fan of Do-it yourself projects around the house and relied mostly on a handyman to do everything....After I got this, my kids and I got busy building small stuff such as toy homes with the wood lying in the garage. We liked it so much, now we are planning to do the real stuff 🙂 The beauty is that it is light, hard and strong for projects around the house. We just love the product.

Time Saver

Insulating my garage and hanging 7/16 OSB on walls and ceiling. Pre drilling for each screw. No changing bits. Unit is light weight, powerful and have half the walls done with one charge on the battery. I have recommend the Switchdriver to many of my friends.

A Handy Tool

I got this switchdriver for Christmas at my daughter's. When I got home, my furnace had quit, so I immediately headed for the attic with the switchdriver. It works great, has plenty of power and is very handy when working on ladders--no need to climb up & down to retrieve tools.

The Search is Over!
Rating: 5
Over the years, it has been so frustrating to do home projects that require a pilot hole to be drilled prior to securing with a screw because changing the bits out of the drill each time is a big pain, especially when you lose or drop them each time. I used my SwitchDriver the other day to install shelving in the mud room which required a pilot hole followed by screwing in a 2" screw. The experience was so wonderful that I decided to put the same shelving up in the laundry room. The only way to really appreciate this great tool is if you've ever had a frustrating experience with changing the bits out each time. This will solve the problem and make projects like this so much more enjoyable. Lots of power and torque behind the 20V battery too! It charges quickly and there's really no hassle at all. This is my new favorite tool by WORX!!

What's wrong with the drill.
Rating: 2
The first problem is that ordinary drill bits don't work with this Switchdriver. You have to purchase a set of hex drills. This fact isn't mentioned in the ads. Second problem is the electronic clutch doesn't really work. It's mostly an ornament. Third, the batteries take way too long to charge.
