The OLD is excellent so will the NEW be.
Rating: 5
We owned a VERY old Hitachi 1 1/2" hammer that finally quit that was nearly identical to this new drill. The old was excellent. I discovered the reputation of the new one is equally excellent and superior to any other brand on the market. So why change? P.S. The new tool's work has just begun. Perfect size for small demo work!

I have had this for several months now, and have used it to demo walkways and a fire place. Works great! Also used it to core a 2" hole through a 18" thick masonry wall. Highly recommend this tool!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

So far so good
Rating: 4
works like expected, just had to toss two old ones that the manufacturers, Hitachi and Milwaukie, stopped making parts for. Very annoying!!!

Vaccum too large
Rating: 3
We use hammer drills extensively and daily on large construction sites, mainly for piping suspensions. We almost exclusively use Milwaukee machines, except for hammer drills because of there has not been any good integrated dust vacuums. We mostly drill concrete with 1/4-5/8 bits, often overhead into ceilings, often hundreds of holes in a day. Dust extractors are a must for us. So we where exited about the new drills with dust vacuums as we have high trust the Milwaukee machines and prefer to use one battery system. We also have good experience in the efficiency of several small Milwaukee hammer drills, both corded and un-corded, in situations where vacuums are not required. We bought both the 1" model and the 1-1/8" 18V Fuel, both with Hammervac attachments. Unfortunately, the drill-hammer and vacuum combo is big and heavy. Our employees simply reject them without really trying them out, because of weight and size compared to our Makita BHR243 with DX02 (we have around 10 of them in daily use). For us the new Hammervacs are too big and heavy compared to competition (Makita, Hilti and DeWalt).
