This is why I bought the cordless screwgun
Rating: 5
I am an avid strip fed screwgun user for efficient large drywall jobs. Working off stilts made the cordless screwgun and this attachment the ideal choice for speed and a no cord floor. It has done exactly what it is supposed to for drywall applications. If you are an experienced strip fed screwgun user then you will have no issues with the correct application. This is not tool for onetime or DIY jobs unless you take a little time to know and use a screwgun and this attachment how it is meant to be used. It is meant for large runs on multi sheet jobs, allowing you to keep a hand free if your on stilts, ladder or scaffolding, or maneuver/lift sheets in place and screw at the same time. Straight in screwing is the obvious must, and correctly laid out framing, splice boards at butt seams rather than stud splicing and No undersized corner drywall nailers are part of the setup that allows continuous fast sheet anchoring. This is not a decking tool, so it's a bit perplexing why you other would be rating this tool based on design requirements that require larger designs that also need different types of drivers to be effective. If you buy this for it's intended purpose and use it correctly, it is a must have addition to the cordless drywall jobsite.

Works well and saves time!
Rating: 5
I bought this attachment even though some reviews were not the greatest. This attachment is awesome! Works well, saves time and is just great to use. I used it on drywall and plywood underlayment. Only had one or 2 jams which really wasn't the tools fault. It was the angle of the strips of screws keeping it from feeding correctly (putting drywall on the ceiling, strip was on an angle). After figuring that out and correcting that, no more issues. I am extremely happy with this purchase and definitely recommend to others.

Great tool, but...

...when will the 2-4" screw version be available? Need to be able to drive 2.5" + screws for deck boards. Just make the darn thing longer, please!

Limited to phillips head screws
Rating: 3
I bought this in hopes to use it for subfloor in addition to drywall. Works great using the supplied pr2 phillips bit and phillips head drywall screws.
Here's the problem. Drywall screws and even gold screws are not good enough for decking, subfloor, or underlayments. One might be able to get away with using gold screws but it's not recommended nor code in some areas.
So far i have not found any collated subfloor or decking screws that have a phillips head. Most are square drive or torx. This leads to the next problem. Sure you can find many 6 inch long #2 square or torx bits but the stem/ shaft of the bit is too fat to fit in the collated attachments body.
Another possible issue is that a phillips head bit/ head work together in an auto feed tool like this. The phillips can release or strip out of the screw which is what you want to
happen in auto feed tools. This might not work with torx or square bit but i could be wrong.
This tool is intended for drywall and for drywall or works great. Just don't think that you are going to be driving anything other than phillips head screws.
Side note. It may be perfect for fence building. I am pretty sure someone makes collated screws for fencing.

DeWalt could have done better
Rating: 2
The wife and I do flips and rentals for the middle class. We usually prefer our DeWalt 20v max tools as they are the vendor that we know can get the job done. Just started doing drywall and started getting my tools in order. Bought the DeWalt screwgun and cutout tool kit.
First issue off the bat, uses a proprietary bit. They give you 2 do we arent completely out of luck.
Second, collated gun attachment jams nails and skips one or two here and there.
The biggest issue I had was the screw being drilled at an angle since the screw cannot, repeat cannot, be pushed in too fast or too slow.
There is no indicator where the screw will be fired. You have to really use it alot to get a sense of where the screw will be fired from the center. If you are using it at an angle or on and edge you can forget about it. We were using it for clear center stud shots to hold the drywall then using the corded to do the edges and joints.
For this reason. Im giving the tool a 2. Cutting the cord on this type of tool isnt ready. Add a tension pull for the screws that dont sink a stud. DeWalt I hope you read this. Friend to vendor, I love your products and I am invested in you, committed in you. Please improve this product.

It was awesome, then it wasn't

I bought this for hanging drywall in a home renovation. It took just a couple of minutes to get it dialed in and it was absolutely perfect. As long as I held it square to the drywall, it sunk the screws perfect each time. Fast forward to about 20 sheets later and I can't get the thing to work for the life of me.
I took it apart to make sure there wasn't anything in it causing it to not feed properly, nothing. My best guess is that the cheap "globally sourced" materials bent. There is at least twice as much play in the ratcheting mechanism now than there was when it was fresh out of the box.
The strips will go through, but when I try and drive a screw, it jams up about 1/4 inch through it's movement leaving me with a screw just hanging in the drywall.
Now I'm off to the hardware store to get some loose screws. I would stay away from this thing. You'll love it until you have a sheet 8 feet in the air and this piece of garbage stops working.
The screw gun itself is pretty good. But this attachment is complete and total crap. I might end up renting from a box store so I can use up these strips that are now otherwise useless.
