Perfect!

I rented a similar tool as a proof of concept for my most immediate project - digging a 9' horizontal tunnel under my house to repair a plumbing problem. Once I'd finished testing and knowing I have 5 more projects I can apply the demo hammer to I took the plunge. I'm using a shovel bit and the ease of angle rotation is superior - push on the adjustment ring and rotate to 12 different positions. Bit removal? Same thing, push the ring and pull the bit out. I was skeptical about the power on/off switch not being a trigger-style switch. 30 minutes later and I was a believer in this slider-style switch on the tool, it is by far my preference. This thing is heavy, as was the rental, for man handling in a horizontal application. It is what it is. The weight works for you or against depending on the application. I've ordered the tamper bit and shank and will use it to assist in back filling my tunnel. The forward grab handle it well placed and I leave it slightly loose so I can rotate it 360 degrees with out turning the knob. The rear handle is wide enough to get two hands on to back the tool out when it's stuck. Cord length is good and I use a heavy gauge extension to reach my power source. The case seems just stout enough to get the job done but I've not traveled with it. In speaking with my plumber I told him I was using a demo hammer and he asked "Is it a Bosch?" This suggest to me that anything else would be somewhat less than ideal.

Best chipping hammer in its size range
Rating: 5
No other chipping hammer comes close. We've owner all the other brands these are the best and longest lasting for our plumbing company. Use them for chipping tunneling and digging.

indispensible

This hammer has helped me dig holes for fences, trenches for conduits, and carving rock for sculpture. It has changed how I think about projects because I can take on so much more with this tool. The hammer is easy to use and doesn't beat me up. I let it do the work and don't push hard on it when hammering. The only concern I have is trying to keep dust from sucking into the motor when a hole is getting deep. I ordered one chisel extra long from a outside source and use that chisel when the hole is getting deep. It would also be great if someone would make a tamping tool when backfilling a hole. I tried making one but can't get a weld to hold with all the impact.

Nothing better

I work for a large Demo company and my division primarily does interior demo. We have a huge assortment of tools to get most any job done quickly. Along with every brand of tool as well. When it comes to grabbing a tool for a project. The Bosch tools go first. This is the supervisors choice. The other brands go last. Our Bosch tools are used extensively on any given day. With without fail. But, when one does go down . It is sent to the nearest service center and fixed pretty quick. The cost is reasonable, when compared to the use of the tool. Compared to other brands? Why would you by anything else?? I could pick apart the other brands. But everyone has there favorites. Buy what you like. I just buy what works and I can depend on.

Tough
Rating: 5
I still have the model 11220 that this newer unit replaced, and it is Tough! My milwaukee burned out twice, but this guy won't quit. We just broke up some concrete that was supposed to be 3", but turned out to be 7" thick, and hard. This crazy little breaker just kept going like the Big-Guys, and saved me a long drive back to the shop for more horsepower. Keep them TOUGH Bosch, and I will keep buying them. Make them China-cheap and I am gone!

this thing will not die

I have bought 2 of these used back in 2003 and I still have them, they are very powerfull and get the job done. I love using the ceramic blade accessory it gets the job done. Remember when using this tool to use the appropriate extension cord that allows 15amps, and use it alone on a single circuit. This will prolong life of the tool. Don't use a garden extension!

Hard hitting demo tool with precision.

We specialize in ADA adaptation of existing concrete. This type of work requires a lot of chipping. I bought my first one in 2010 and the second in 2014 . We've never had a single problem the first still works as well as the newer tool.

I bought this to help drive 3/4" x 22' steel thru rods in concrete floating docks damaged in a recent hurricane at my marina, Brunswick Landing Marina in Brunswick, Georgia. I couldn't have done the job rebuilding my docks without it, and it cut our labor hours down by 75%!

Good punch
Rating: 4
Great power vs weight ratio. Great for horizontal and floor hammering.  Must be a strong guy to handle for above head work.  Currently used for 320 hours.  Serviced twice for worn brushes.  No other problems.  Equivalent to or better than a 17lb air hammer.  Cheaper to operational cost than an air hammer. Pros: Similar or better punch than Hilti TE700.  Good value in class performance. Cons: Brushes wear out too fast.  Ergonomic design not as good as Hilti TE700

Absolutely Love it
Rating: 5
I bought this for small shop projects, and it has performed excellent. The ToughSystem Case is just amazing, and I love the storage. I can have everything I need in one kit! Variable speed on the impact driver is just amazing, and the drill works so well. Although I have had a few problems with the driver's trigger sticking, that is only when I pull it at a weird angle, and is easily fixed by a quick grip adjust. Best Brushless Drill I have ever owned
Rating: 5
I have had my drill about a year and a half, and I have only charged one of the two battery once they hold a charge like no other. I will not own any other than a DeWalt [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

The new workhorse!
Rating: 5
Bought this as I thought my 18 volt XR drill/driver was going bad. Used it a few times to make sure it worked well. It did. Bought the 18 volt to 20 volt battery adaptor versus buying new 18 volt batteries and found the 18 volt XR drill/driver is still working fine, the 18 volt batteries were just getting weak. This new daddy will stay in its case a while longer as the 18 volt unit is running like a fine watch now with its 20 volt 5 AH battery.

Simply, Put Outstanding!

The battery life is second to none. I can do much work between charges. It has plenty of turning power for any purpose, and the three-speed transmission is a great extra to control speed. I bought mine with several matching accessories and I find them all useful.

I have had my drill for some time & also another competitors drill, I always go back to "yellow jacket" as it sting can not be beat! Even with heavy daily workloads the drill & battery out perform any other drill/battery that I've had. I will always choose dewalt! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
